logo, collections 1–3Victor Santos, the writer and artist of Polar, was inspired by action cinema of the 1960s and 70s, and artists such as Jim Steranko, Jose Muñoz, Alberto Breccia, Alex Toth and Frank Miller. I wanted to emphasize the bold color and graphic style of Victor’s art, and avoid hiding it with “vintage” texture. My goal was to have the collections feel modern, but still pay homage to the series’ roots.
